Privacy Notice for the Pocket Printer App

This privacy notice explains how the Pocket Printer mobile application ("the app") processes data when you use it.

We do not ask you to create an account and we do not intentionally collect contact-type information such as your name or email address through the app itself.

Karsten International B.V. is established in the Netherlands. We do not appoint a separate EU representative for the processing described here because it is not required for a controller established in the European Union.

Availability of this Privacy Notice

This privacy notice is available:

• on our website before downloading the app
• through the Apple App Store and Google Play Store listing
• inside the app settings

The online version is always the most up-to-date version.

How the App Works

The Pocket Printer app primarily works locally on your device. You do not need to create an account, and most functions operate offline.

This means:

• photos remain on your device
• camera images remain on your device
• the app does not upload your files or photos to our servers for ordinary printing use

Limited technical information may be transmitted when you use specific features described below.

Why we are allowed to process data (legal bases)

We rely on the following legal bases, depending on the activity:

• Performance of a contract / steps prior to a contract: providing the printing and device connection features you request, including firmware compatibility checks and delivery of updates when you choose to use them.
• Consent: where the operating system asks you to allow optional access (for example camera, photos, or storage for specific features), you can grant or withdraw that consent in your device settings.
• Legitimate interests: keeping our services secure and stable, preventing abuse, troubleshooting technical issues, handling support and security reports, and operating server infrastructure in a way that is proportionate and respects your rights. You may object to processing based on legitimate interests as described under "Your privacy rights" below.

You can revoke any permission at any time in your device settings.

Data Processed When Using the App

Most features do not send any data to our servers. Limited technical data is transmitted only when the following features are used.

Firmware Update Telemetry

When you use the Firmware Update function, the following data is sent to our update server:

• printer model
• printer serial number
• printer Bluetooth name
• current firmware version

This information is used only to check whether a compatible firmware update is available for your printer.

The data is not used for profiling, marketing, or tracking users.

Security Vulnerability Reporting

When you use the Security vulnerability reporting function, if you are connected to the printer, the following data may be included in the emails you send to us:

• app version
• printer serial number
• current firmware version

The data is used solely for communication purposes. Our update servers do not record the vulnerability-reporting payload from this flow.

Purpose of Data Processing

We process data only for the following purposes:

• enabling the printer to connect to your device
• checking firmware compatibility and providing updates
• maintaining security and stability of the service
• responding to support requests

Data Storage and Retention

Most information remains only on your device.

Typical retention periods:

• Firmware update requests: technical fields are processed for the duration of the active update check or download. They are not used to build long-term behavioural profiles.
• Support communications: up to 2 years after the last contact in the thread, unless a longer period is required by law or for establishing, exercising, or defending legal claims.
• Local data on your device: until you delete it or uninstall the app

Telemetry and Diagnostic Data

The app collects limited telemetry only when you use the Firmware Update function.

Collected data:

• printer model
• printer serial number
• Bluetooth device name
• current firmware version

Purpose:

• identify compatible firmware updates
• prevent incorrect firmware installation
• troubleshoot update errors

Data recipients:

• Karsten International B.V.
• our hosting provider operating the firmware update server

No analytics SDKs, advertising tracking, or user profiling tools are used in the app.

International transfers

Our hosting and service providers may process data in the European Economic Area and/or in other countries. Where personal data is transferred from the European Economic Area to countries that are not recognised as ensuring an adequate level of data protection, we implement appropriate safeguards, such as the standard contractual clauses approved by the European Commission, supplemented where required by additional technical or organisational measures.

Third-party services and roles

We use service providers as follows:

• Hosting providers for firmware update and related infrastructure act as processors: they process data only on our instructions and under written data processing terms.
• Email providers used for support act as processors where they handle messages on our behalf.
• Apple App Store and Google Play act as independent controllers for their own platforms (for example distribution, payments where applicable, and their own analytics as described in their privacy notices).

Third-party Websites (Web Print)

The app includes a Web Print feature that opens external websites.

When you access these websites, those third parties may collect data such as:

• IP address
• browser information
• cookies

Those sites act as independent controllers of their own processing. Karsten International is not responsible for their data processing practices.

Cookies and similar technologies

This app is a native mobile application. We do not use cookies within the app's own screens for tracking or advertising. We do not integrate advertising or behavioural analytics SDKs for user profiling in the app.

If you open external websites (for example through Web Print), those sites may use cookies or similar technologies under their own rules.

Sharing of Personal Data

We only share data with third parties when:

• it is necessary to provide the service
• we are legally required to do so
• you have given consent
• it is necessary to protect legal rights

Your privacy rights

Depending on applicable law, you may have the right to:

• Access personal data we hold about you
• Rectify inaccurate data
• Erase your data in certain circumstances
• Restrict processing in certain circumstances
• Data portability for data you provided, where processing is based on consent or contract and technically feasible
• Object to processing based on legitimate interests, including profiling based on those interests, unless we show compelling legitimate grounds
• Withdraw consent at any time where processing is based on consent, without affecting the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal

To exercise your rights, contact us at s.oost@karsten.nl. We will respond within one month where possible; that period may be extended by up to two further months for complex requests, as permitted by law.

Changes to This Privacy Notice

We may update this privacy notice if the app or legal requirements change.

If significant changes are made, the updated notice will be published on our website and made available in the app.
